Partick Thistle ace Andy Dowie has once again been named in Rainher Bonhof’s Scotland Under 21 Squad for the friendly visit to Hungary this Wednesday.
Dowie, who will win his 8th under 21 cap for his country, captained Bonhof’s babes in their friendly encounter against Denmark last April in which the young Scots grabbed a respectable 2-2 draw.
Despite being released by Rangers in the summer the former captain of the gers’ reserve side, is highly rated by the national set up who regard him as a player of some potential.
Along with Ross County’s Jamie McCunnie, the 21 year old is the most experienced international player in the squad and is expected to vie with his defensive partner for the captaincy of the Scots starlets.
Dowie is just one of a number of young jags stars to recently gain recognition at international level.
16 year olds Ian Cameron and John McGoldrick have both appeared for Scotland’s under 17 sides this season with the former picking up 4 caps and the latter 2.
Both youngsters are expected to feature in the under 17’s upcoming double-header of fixtures with Sweden in Kalmar at the end of the month.
