Thistle played there first home game of the close season last night against Leicester City.

Gerry Britttons and Derek Whyte's side lined up with 3 new faces in the line up. New signings Andy Dowie and Steve Fulton were in the starting 11 along side trialist Richard Paquette. However there was no Juan Ramon because there was not clearance for him to play.

Thistle had the majority of the play of a young Leicester side. Richard Paquette was looking lively up front and kept keeper Pressman busy.

Wille Howie was the standout man in the midfield, putting in hefty challenges and looking to create. Andy Dowie was looking sharp in the centre of defence as well.

Unfortunatley Paquette picked up a knock 30 mins into the game and was replaced at half time by John Gemmell.

The only goal of the game was scored in the 63rd minute by Trevor Benjamin. Poor defending allowed the Leicester striker to head in at the back post after a deep cross from the right wing.

Thistle brought on Emmanuel Panther who livend up the midfield a little and looked to take on men and create chances, something Thistle had lacked for most of the game.

Gerry Britton later gave his views to the official site saying :
"These are the kind of games that you want to take on, against very good players and we felt that we acquitted ourselves well, had a lot of possession up to the final third in both halfs but we lacked a bit of a cutting edge up front, but we have known that for a long time.  Jamie Mitchell played very well but we need a couple of strikers to improve competition.  It was a shame that we could not get clearance for Juan but hopefully Wednesday and Richie has done enough to merit another chance on Wednesday.  It is the best that we have seen from him since coming here, and hopefully we can see him and Ramon as well as another Frenchman that has now arrived in action, although that will depend on clearance being received."
