In a series of new articles on Jags-mad we will be asking editors of the other First Divsion clubs on the footymad network how they think their own team and Thistle will do next year.
Here is what the Hamilton Accies editor thinks :
Since gaining promotion to the First Division, Hamilton have made some really good signings. Mark McLaughlin, who had interested both Dunfermline and Partick, signed on a three-year deal, and top goalscorer Pat Keogh, both arrived from Clyde. David Hamilton was signed from junior club Pollok, and Aussie duo Iain Fyfe and Scott Tunbridge were brought in to improve the squad. But the biggest and most controversial arrival has to be the new Field Turf surface at NDP. It is regarded better than Dunfermline's plastic pitch, and will no doubt generate debate throughout the season. Helped by the advantage of playing on the pitch more than other teams, I can see Accies claiming a place in the top half of the league this season. Failing that, safety from relegation.
On the other hand, I don't expect Partick Thistle to be worried of relegation! They will be right up there with St Johnstone, Ross County and Falkirk, challenging for the First Division title. In the end, I think they will just lose out to St Johnstone, mainly because that fact that I think John Connolly has made better signings than Gerry Britton and Derek Whyte. Although Partick won't win promotion, I expect recent signing Juan-Ramos Escalas to be a big hit in season 2004/05, maybe earning a move to an SPL club in the process.
